Tourist Attractions

We will work on adding tourist attraction sites and information within Karnes County!

Karnes County Courthouse

The Courthouse was dedicated on October 25, 1894, and completed on May 29, 1895. Alterations beginning in the 1920s resulted in two additions on the west side, removal of the original clock tower and conical roofs of the turrets, stucco being applied over the brick and blocking of the south enterance. Construction beginning in 2011 and completed in 2018 restored the courthouse to its original (1894) appearance. The County Judge, County Attorney, and District Clerk will reside in the courthouse. The courthouse is located on 101 N. Panna Maria Ave, Karnes City, TX.

Karnes County Historical Society - features the Old 1873 Helena Courthouse and the John Ruckman House in Helena Texas. Helena Founded in 1852 on the San Antonio River by Thomas Ruckman. Helena was designated county seat when Karnes County was created in 1854.
